February 2017’s Free Games Preview

You can be a space narwhal wrapped in a burrito…

It’s the last month of free games before Nintendo joins the fray with the Switch (although you only have the game for a month but that’s another issues), and there are some belters on offer. So until then, enjoy!

Xbox One

  • Killer Instinct Season 2 (January 16-February 15) – the ridiculous combo beat ’em up remains free till mid-Feb.
  • Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (February 1-28) – A one to four player co-op space shooter, frantic actions for couch multiplayer action.
  • Project Cars (February 16-March 15) – mixed reviews when this came out, some loved it due to the realism, variety and handling. Some didn’t, due to the realism, variety and handling. At least now, you can try it, and read our review while you’re waiting.

Xbox 360

  • Monkey Island 2: SE (February 1-15) – return of a classic with the remastered treatment
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (February 16-28) – action adventure Star Wars action arrives as part of Games for Gold. Time to get your Force on.

Playstation 4

  • Little Big Planet 3 – create ’em up cutsey platform action was the order of the day for LBP3’s debut on PS4. Regarded as not as good fun (in terms of premade level design) as it’s younger brothers, the creation function is stellar.
  • Not a Hero – sweary pixely, shooty, platformy action as the cult hit makes its way over to the PSN Plus section.

PS Vita & PS4

  • Ninja Genki DX – killed by a ninja demon, it’s time for revenge! Pixelated 2D platform shooting action.
  • TorueL – a rolling cube momentum platform. Looks a bit like N++ with squares.

PS3

  • Anna: Extended Edition – a horror story game. Looks a bit scary.

PS3 & PS4

  • Starwhal – Four player multiplayer action. Couldn’t quite work out what this was, but I read this, “You can be a space narwhal wrapped in a burrito.” so that clears it up.
