July’s Free Games Preview

Summer’s pretty much here now, so there should be plenty of time for some free gaming! Not a bad month for free games for July, let’s break it down:

Until Dawn – PS4 – Survival horror adventure as you play eight friends on a mountain retreat, but things aren’t quite right. Will they all survive? It’s up to you.

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Series – PS4 – Telltale adventure as you experience six episodes following House Forrester during the War of the Five Kings. Winter is coming, in July.

That’s You – PS4 (4th July onwards) – special bonus this month, local multiplayer quiz action. How well do you know your friends? It’s time to find out.

Tokyo Jungle – PS3 – a month of survival action games, set in a futuristic and deserted Tokyo, missions are central around various animals, such as lions, deer and Pomeranian dogs.

Darkstalkers Resurrection – PS3 – classic 2D fighting action from Capcom out of their arcade repertoire. Lots of women fighting with long hair and cat ears.

Don’t Die Mr Robot – PS Vita (cross-buy with PS4) – arcade action akin to Pac-Man, whatever you do Mr Robot, don’t die!

Element4l – PS Vita – indie platform game, smooth gameplay (very well received critically) and a terrific soundtrack.

Grow Up — July 1-30 (Xbox One) – sequel to Ubisoft’s Grow Home, offering much of the same but in a larger world

Runbow — July 16 – August 15 (Xbox One) – 2D racing game originally debuting on Wii U, but it’s Xbox One release is now, and free.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days — July 1-15 (Xbox 360 & Xbox One) – 3D person shooter with an awful lot of swearing. Is Kane & Lynch any good? Not really. Worth playing? Yes, it’s reasonably fun, if rubbish.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game — July 16-31 (Xbox 360 & Xbox One) – Pirates of the Caribbean gets the LEGO game treatment. Usual rules apply, lots of characters, lots of collecting.
