August 2021 Free Games Preview

In what is becoming a bit of a ‘thing’, the free lineup for August is looking a bit squirrelly. Still, here are the games you’ll be downloading this month (to be fair, some not-terrible ones in here this month):

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville (PS4) – third-person shooter set in the universe of this popular franchise. At one point this was set to be the ‘next-big thing’ but never seemed to take off, despite the colourful and family friendly approach

Tennis World Tour 2 (PS4) – it’s just not tennis! Actually, it very much is tennis. On tour around the world. It’s an ok tennis game with some scary looking character models

Hunter’s Arena: Legends (PS5) – a 30 player battle royale game. There’s a lot of these, this one looks ok

Darksiders III (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, available August 1 to 31) – an open-ended action-adventure with some puzzles thrown in. This time, you play as Fury, hunting down the Seven Deadly Sins

Yooka-Laylee (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, available August 16 to September 15) – spiritual Banjo successor which was patched to remove some of the frustration when first released. Classic 3D platforming action in the modern era

Lost Planet 3 (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, available August 1 to 15) – a prequel to the Lost Planet universe, single-player, third-person grappley shooting

Garou: Mark of the Wolves (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, available August 16 to 31) – last entry to the Fatal Fury series, it’s time to conclude the King of Fighters tournament in this beat ‘em up
