The News Review: Edition 2

Here at The Gaming Review we know that not everyone has the time to search for all the latest gaming news, so we’ve put together the most important stories over the last 7 days in a quick and easy bullet point format for you busy gamers-on-the-go. So here’s the news for the week ending September 6th:

  • Timesplitters: Rewind is being developed for PS4 by a team of original Timesplitters developers and fans. It will use the CryEngine 3, and an Xbox One version has not yet been ruled out.
  • Dragon Age 3: Inquisition gameplay demo was shown at PAX Prime, and will feature playable Qunari, romance and a cloud for carry-over saves. Inquisition will be released in 2014 on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One.
  • UK retailers are offering a free copy of Forza Motorsport 5 as an alternative to Fifa 14 for customers who pre order Xbox One Day One Editions.
  • Cliff Bleszinski, co-creator of the massively popular Gears of War franchise, posted another teaser of his new project on Twitter.
  • The Xbox One release date has been announced for November 22nd which is exactly one week before the PS4 comes out in Europe, and one week after the PS4 is released in North America.
  • Xbox 360 will still be supported for the next 3 years, according to Micrososft’s corporate vice president of marketing and strategy Yusuf Mehdi. Mehdi claims that there are still over 100 titles in development for the current generation platform.
  • Pokemon X and Y will allow players to choose from 6 starters, including the 3 originals, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, from Red and Blue.
  • UK retailer GAME has announced it will allow customers to trade in PS3 and Xbox 360 copies of Fifa 14, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 for a minimum fee of £40 if they’re traded in for PS4 and Xbox One variants.
  • DC Universe Online‘s eighth expansion – Sons of Trigon – has gone live, with new celestial powers, solo and group adventures, and a new open zone: the Gotham Wastelands.
  • This weeks Humble Weekly Sale includes Arcen Games’ AI War: Fleet Command with all 5 DLC packs, A Valley Without Wind 1 and 2, Tidalis and if you pay above the average (currently $5.80) Shattred Haven and Skyward Collapse with the Nihon no Mura DLC.
