The News Review: Edition 20

We here at The Gaming Review know that people are far too busy to go searching through all the latest news stories, so to make things easy, we’ve compiled what we think are the most important news stories over the past 7 days:

  • Sony’s PS4 is the UK’s best-selling home console in 2013, beating Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in the final few weeks of the year.
  • The PS4 has also done well globally, with over 4.2 million consoles being sold worldwide.
  • Turtle Beach has partnered with Sony meaning that the audio giant will create the official headsets for the PS4.
  • Titanfall will have online multiplayer matches capped to 6 vs 6, but will still feature plenty of active  AI fighters with maps being able to 48 competitors, and all players can have a titan in ‘follow’ or ‘guard’ mode.
  • China’s ban on game consoles has been temporarily lifted, allowing Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo access to the third largest gaming market in terms of revenue.
  • According to a tweet from Twitch Support, Twitch direct broadcasting is still a few months away from being available on the Xbox One.
  • Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox One will receive an update which should fix that were ‘hidden or harder to use’ than they were on the Xbox 360.
  • SEGA has confirmed that they have no plans to put Alien: Isolation on the Wii U.
  • SEGA have also announced that Alien: Isolation will offer no co-op or multiplayer experience, and be purely singleplayer based.
  • The creators of Left 4 Dead have announced a new sci-fi multiplayer shooter, Evolve, which will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC in Autumn.
  • The standalone version of DayZ has topped 800,000 sales in the first 3 weeks, eclipsing the developers predictions.
  • Ubisoft has announced that Rayman Legends will be available on PS4 and Xbox One from February 18th in North America, and February 21st in Europe.
  • King Dedede has been confirmed as the 21st playable character in Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS.
  • A recent video with NBA star Shaquille O’Neal has sparked rumours of Shaq Fu 2, after O’Neal said ‘it’s coming soon’.
  • Valve has said it has no plans to make its own Steam Machine, instead viewing their role as enabling other manufacturers.
  • However 14 other companies have announced their own Steam Machines, including Alienware, Origin, CyberPowerPC, Digital Storm, Webhallen, Zotac and Alternate.
